about us
German Shepherd Dog Rescue of North Texas, Inc. was founded in 2014 to save German Shepherd Dogs from abuse, abandonment, and high kill shelters. GSDRNT is a non-profit organization that wouldn’t exist without the compassion and dedication of volunteers determined to help Rescue, Rehab, and Rehome this noble breed.
GSDRNT operates primarily in North Texas. We are committed to assisting German Shepherd Dog (GSD) rescue efforts throughout the area and one of our goals is to expand our foster network throughout North Texas.
Our volunteer organization is committed to rescuing displaced, neglected, or unwanted GSDs from high kill shelters and unfit homes; rehabilitating them with proper medical care, nourishment, and socialization; and rehoming them into caring and responsible forever homes where they are able to thrive as alert, loving, and loyal family members.
It takes a village!
and we couldn't do the amazing work we do without our village of dedicated volunteers, fosters, transporters, adoption coordinators, board members, adopters AND fans! Join our village by following us on Facebook. We frequently post requests for help with transport, events, fostering, or donations of specific items of desperate need. Share our photos and updates to help us find homes for our amazing dogs. Read more about our programs and what you can do to help below. We love our village!
Our Mission Statement
German Shepherd Dog Rescue of North Texas is a private non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to:
The establishment and coordination of a network of foster homes in North Texas to ensure comfort and assistance to all German Shepherd dogs in need.
To adopt companion animals into loving forever homes.
The evaluation of temperament, beginning basic training, proper medical care, spay/neuter of all dogs and assuring all appropriate vaccinations are provided for all adoptable dogs.
To advance responsible programs to reunite lost pets with their owners, including discounted micro chipping.
To encourage and strengthen the human/animal bond by encouraging obedience training and behavioral advice that focus on the needs of both people and animals.
To create lasting and comprehensive change in human behavior toward animals through education about responsible pet ownership, including the spaying and neutering of pets, and about humane and respectful treatment of all animals.
When each dog leaves our care, it is our goal that they go to a home where they are loved as a member of the family, a home where they will be well cared for and where they will receive the proper mental and physical exercise as well as the daily interaction and affection that they need for the balance of their lives.
Did you know?
Basic obedience training is a large part of welcoming your new rescue dog into your family. Training of any sort strengthens and reinforces communication skills between you, forming a very special relationship that will last a lifetime. Our adoptive families are strongly encouraged to pursue activities such as agility, competition obedience, rally, or flyball among other available dog sports in addition to the mandatory obedience training.
it's tax deductible!
We need concerned and generous contributors to fund veterinary care for needy dogs coming into our care. There will be specific animals with particular needs in addition to the cost of basic veterinary testing, medication and ongoing care of the animals for whom we have responsibility and for these we need a significant reserve to be prepared to help them. We will deeply appreciate any amount, large or small! We are a Tax Exempt Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization. As such your donation is tax deductible.
